Year 2008
Concept A desktop lamp which utilizes lighting technology of the future to create a new type of lamp.

The design of lamps has always been dictated by the source of light, the bulb. A lighting bulb sends light in all directions and therefore a lampshade is needed to point the light in the desired direction. In a normal lamp it is only possible to adjust the direction, and in some cases the intensity of the light.

This concept draws advantage of OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) technology to create new possibilities for the way a desk lamp works. It is possible to print OLED particles onto a surface and then send electricity through them which causes them to glow. In this concept the particles are printed on a piece of elastic fabric, which is attached to an adjustable frame, making it possible not only to adjust the direction and intensity of the light, but also how much the cone of light is spread out. On top of this the aesthetics of the lamp gives it a completely unique identity compared to ordinary desk lamps.
